This is the first appearance of ROLF HÄSLER with his own quartet on brambus records – after he did two excellent productions with the CITY WEST QUARTET a couple years back. Both are still available at brambus!
The ROLF HÄSLER QUARTET brings mighty swinging jazz in best hardbop tradition; very suitable self penned compositions and some fine arranged standards meet on the highest level, including influences of blues, funk and latin as well as some lyrical and melodic pieces, which unite on this CD to a wide ranged musical experience.
The ROLF HÄSLER QUARTET was funded early 2002 from the known saxplayer, who has been active in various styles before with groups as the “City West Quartet”, “Martin Streule Jazz Orchestra”, “Sophisticated Lady”, “Longstreet Jazzband” and he is also the leader of the “Second Line Big Band” and of the traditional jazz band “The Steamboat Rats”. His sidemen Jerome De Carli (piano), Giorgios Antoniou (bass) and the drummer Peter Horisberger worked together since many years in various bands and orchestras. With this new CD in their luggage, they will extensively tour in autumn 2003 within Switzerland and way over the borders.
