”But the most important aspect of Danny Moss’ artistry is that he can take material you’ve heard dozens of times before...and find something to say that hasn’t been heard before.”(The Mississippi Rag)
To work with Danny Moss was big fun and much pleasure for the Buddha’s Gamblers. From the first meeting there was a spark between the great tenor sax player and gentleman, who now lives in Perth (Australia) for a couple of years, and the band, which is totally inspired by Swing. Danny Moss’ excellent tenor sax-playing completes the Buddha’s Gamblers frontline perfectly. Because of the esteemed rhythm group, which corresponds exactly to his imagination and because of the groove, which fills the whole band, Danny Moss is ‘very, very happy’ to co-produce another CD for Nagel Heyer Records, a label that attracts more and more international attention.
To describe an international and splendid saxophone player like Danny Moss – a professional musician since he was 16 years old, who was part of Ted Heath’s and Maynard Ferguson’s world tours in the fifties or who worked together with legends of Swing like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., Bing Crosby etc. – in a more detailed way would take too long. Buddha’s Gamblers, a band from Zurich (Switzerland), which plays cultivated Dixieland and Swing, has the same line-up for approximately 15 years. They do not only have a fantastic and unique rhythm section, but also splendid soloists. The leading band in Switzerland, which received much recognition at different international festivals, was very glad about the possibility to make a CD with Danny Moss, which hopefully attracts the attention of an international and bigger audience
With fine arrangements of bassist Vinzenz Kummer plus ideas of the clarinet player Werner Keller (founder and director of the famous Tremble Kids, which exist since 1952) the band took the opportunity to produce a CD in three days of studio-work, which sparkles Swing from the beginning till the end. (Heinz Bühler, Zurich in May 1997)
