The greatest artists on Telarc Jazz, Label of the Legends, have gathered together for a swinging celebration of the Christmas season. The great songs of this album are all brand new renditions of holiday favorites...recorded especially for this album.
This recording has a wide range of great vocalists, including Mel Torme and his trio performing his "Christmas Song," and Joe William's Quintet performing his "Christmas Blues." Bobby Short sings "White Christmas," and Jeanie Bryson's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," swings with help from the great musicians, Kenny Barron and Ray Drummond.
The recording also features the great sax man, Gerry Mulligan, as well as "O Tannenbaum" performed by guitar master Jim Hall. Drummer, Louis Bellson narrates a delightful "It's the Time of the Year." Also included is a smoldering version of "Silver Bells" featuring the Jimmy McGriff and Hank Crawford Quartet.
