Bernstein, Leonard - Bernstein conducts Stravinsky and Ravel

Composer: Maurice Ravel, Igor Stravinsky

The music of Stravinsky and Ravel – by the time he recorded this performance of the Concerto, Bernstein practically owned the piece- were stepping stones to his early recognition and success. It is easy to hear why he was so rapidly regarded as a boy wonder, not least by Copland and Koussevitzky, not least thanks to these 1946-47 recordings. The Ravel Concerto was not issued on 78s in Europe.
