The Lionel Hampton Band on this particular album was like all its successors rather short-lived. However, Europe was fortunate enough to enjoy a first extended tour marking especially the presence of new young artists like Gigi Gryce, Clifford Brown, Art Farmer, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Cleveland, Monk Montgomery (brother of Wes) or Alan Dawson, all of them to become famous jazz personalities. This is the second part of the concert from 1953 in Basel (part 1 is on Volume 17 - TCB 02172). Another historic document of great value, not only for grown ups but also for young people discovering the beautiful world of Jazz.
