Christina, Maja - Romance

Maja Christina - Romance
Another fine new member in the brambus family! Maja Christina knows to give melodies a soul with terseness and brilliant sovereignty. In her voice strength and vulnerability are not antipodes. Maybe this is the real reason why she is able to enthusiast her fans as well as critics the same way. Her melodious voice is modern even if she interprets classics of jazz and pop with the mysterious smile of her pure timbre.
In her first album “Romance” Maja Christina shows her wonderful capability to arrange songs as Neil Young’s “Heart Of Gold”, Suzanne Vegas “Toms Diner” or the jazz classic “Summertime” in an unusual manner which very much differs from mass fabrications in a pleasant way. Together with Roland Köppel (piano) and Pascal Graf (drums) who are her musical companions for more than ten years, as well as with Emanuel Schnyder (bass) and Stefan Schlegel (trombone) she easily crosses the fragile bridge between pop and jazz. Thanks to Maja Christina’s awareness of her own behaviour, she is capable to produce atmospheric songs.
“Romance” is more than a new interpretation of already existing songs. The strong credibility of the 29 years old singer who has become one of the promising singers of a new Swiss generation, is mainly based on her professional arrangements and convincing compositions. You will find two highly artistic own productions on the CD. Today, Maja Christina is introducing a very exiting debut album, which can be characterized by its outstanding charm and the maturity of its arrangements. As a result she has composed a CD which can best be described as a warm embrace, also surprising with moments of excitement. A steady transparency gives the necessary space to shape well to the singing as well as to the instruments. If one listens very carefully to this wonderful music, he will notice that arrangements as “I can’t stand the rain” or “Yellow Moon” are much more than tiny little footnotes to the Great American Songbook. Maja Christina has the seldom ability to find the balance between powerful expression and quietness, between clear intonation and the power of her beautiful voice. A young women who is well worth to be discovered has created an album which one cannot do without it anymore after having heard it for the first time.
