Magyar Jazzkutatási Társaság BSIN01990799 2000, PB, 64 S. Englisch, Ungarisch Siklós, Péter - Jazz Fantáziák JAZZ.
All caps. You just cannot put it down with one initial cap. The four letters mean the same wherever you go in the world. A photographer cannot capture the essence of jazz without becoming one with the audience. Without viewing things just like the audience hears them.
For Siklós capturing the moment does not necessarily mean the end of the process, he uses the brush (but never the computer) as complimentary method of art. He scarcely uses it, though, carefully preserving the priority of documentation over abstraction.
Since Armstrong’s Budapest concert in 1965, and the successive marchin’ in of saints (Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Oscar Peterson) he has been following the footsteps of jazz. He might have started off with jazz, but flies by fantasy. Let him take you along, but do not forget to pack your favourite record. (Kornél Zipernovszky)
