Wilfer, Rudi / Stojka, Harry - Live! - Kunst im Grauen Haus 1998

Rudi Wilfer, the Joe Zawinul successor used to belong to the innermost circle of the Fatty George group. Since four decades he is one of the few austrian jazz pianists and composers, whose fame reaches far beyond the borders of his homecountry.
Harri Stojka, a guitar player young enough to be wilfer' s son, got his musical rudiments in the seventies with rock- and fusion music. The generationgap of the two has no negativ influence in the contrary! Wilfer is as impressionistic and musically gifted as ever and has played only a few times on a record as mellow and accomplished as on this one.
Stojka shows a masterly and imaginative play full of technical rafinesse. The piano - guitar pair Wilfer - Stojka belongs to the few really perfectly playing groups of the present scene.
It is impossible to play with more nobleness and thoughtfulness a decent swing. What is more, the play of the two musicians acquires even more importance in the concerthall as in a noisy jazzclub. Listening to this cd is absolute pleasure.
The collaboration of Wilfer and Stojka is truly a stroke of luck for me.
