ALADAR PEGE double bass (born 1939, Budapest)
Winner of Liszt prize, composer, interpreter and professor at the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy; Artist of Merit of the Hungarian People's Republic. Aladar Pege is one of the most interesting and internationally acknowledged personalities of the Hungarian music Iife. Critics of international music reviews labelled him as the "Paganini of the Double Bass".
Studied at the Bart6k Conservatory, gratuated from the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy in Budapest. He continued his studies with Prof. Reinhold Zapperec in West-Berlin. He has given classical and jazz concerts since 1964.
After succsesses in Bled (Yugoslavia, 1963), Montreux (Switzerland, 1970), Bombay (India, 1980), New York (USA, Cool Festival, 1982) where he was given Charlie Mingus' bass, his name has always been Iisted among the best in Down Beat and Jazz Forum.
