This vintage Metropolitan Opera performance of Rossini's effervescent comic opera brought together the glamorous soprano Lily Pons as Rosina and - in the early days of his legendary career - the young Italian tenor Giuseppe Di Stefano as Count Almaviva. Broadcast live from the Met on December 16, 1950, with Alberto Erede conducting the company's orchestra and chorus, the performance also showcased the richly comic characterizations of baritone Giuseppe Valdengo as Figaro, Salvatore Baccaloni as Don Bartolo and Jerome Hines as Don Basilio.
