"Flames"
Choice ensembles, sublime soloists and treasures from the realms of Ancient Music were at the focus of the concerts of the Resonanzen Festival 2010: The undisputed specialists for French Baroque music, La Simphonie du Marais, made their Austrian debut and Antonio Florio's acclaimed Cappella della Pietà de' Turchini put an opera rarity by Johann Joseph Fux on their agenda. This CD set offers a selection of the most interesting concerts of the Resonanzen Festival 2010, which set out on a hot trail "from heaven across the world to hell" and offered its audiences reunions with some of their favorite artists as well as some exciting debut appearances.
This time the motto of the Resonanzen Festival was "flames", like the all-engulfing and blinding flames of Baroque splendour at the French Court which ended in an explosive uprising of the people and thus even more flames. The French soprano Véronique Gens was the special guest of a gala with La Simphonie du Marais performing extracts from works by Lully and Rameau. Two great voices, Roberta Invernizzi and Elena Biscuola, accompanied by Gambe di Legno, contributed to heated musical debates which took place around the year 1600. Ulrike Hofbauer was the flaming vocal support in the debut of the Hamburger Ratsmusik, while Luca Guglielmi's Concerto Madrigalesco fired up their debut with instrumental "battaglie" of the 17th century. After having stayed away for three long years the ensemble Mala Punica again honored the Resonanzen Festival with one of their superb performances, followed by the fulminant debut of La Chapelle Rhénane.
